Austin Ridge Bible Church

For some reason we decided to play Austin Ridge Bible Church for the second time this month.  Today's players were:  Combs, Lif, Keith, Dave, Bob, Chris and Heady.  It was near perfect weather with temperatures in the 70's, high clouds and no breeze.  Course conditions were still a little overgrown with lots of trees to hit.  We saw a couple of other groups on the course today.

No excuses, I played very poorly today.  My drives landed behind brush, my approach shots were long, leaving me with difficult putts; which I mostly bounced off the front of the basket.  I did make a nice 60 footer with Nick Mata to save par on #9.  Dave got robbed of his putt on #5.  It came in steep, missed all the chains and hit the bottom of the basket and bounced out.  Almost everyone had a difficult round.   At least Steve had a good day.

Five birdies were made today:  Steve(3), Lif(1) and Keith(1).  No discs found.  Bob lost two discs in the pond on #18.

Westside Park - Marble Falls

I took a day off work to play the Westside Park in Mable Falls with Chris.  It was a beautiful spring day in Central Texas with temperatures in the 70's, partly cloudy skies and a good breeze from the south.  We were worried the park might have been closed because of a 'shelter in place' order for Burnet County.  Course conditions were good, the grass was a little high but someone was mowing it.  We were the only players on the course.

This is a fun course to play, there are a lot of different elements that are encountered.  Some open bomber holes and tight tunnel shots.  Water comes into play on several holes as do changes in elevation.  The holes aren't that long but they are fair.  It is easy to get into trouble if you go into the woods.  I really like the way they redesigned holes #17 and #18.

I played alright for the front nine but fell off toward the end.  I was satisfied with my drives but my approach shots were a little off, leaving me with some putts outside my comfort zone.  I made pretty much all of my putts except one where the wind was a problem.

Only one birdie today and that was by Chris.  He got some nice tree love on #4 that put him next to the basket.  No discs lost and no discs found.

Afterwards, on the way home, we stopped for BBQ at Opie's in Spicewood!

Circle C - Zombie Apocalypse

We played a round at Circle C today to take our minds off the Corona Virus news.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Bob, Lif, Dave, Chris and Heady.  It was foggy with temperatures were in the middle 50's and the wind was calm.  Course conditions were a little slick and muddy and there were several other small groups on the course.

I played alright today, I did mess up a few shots by overthinking them.  My drive on #1 was the longest I've ever thrown.  I even out drove Steve 😀.  Too bad I choked on the birdie putt.

There were six birdies made today:  Keith(3), Dave(1) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

East Metro Park - Beware The Ides of March

We went east today to play the East Metro Park in Manor.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Bob, Lif, Dave, Chris and Heady.  It was a little chilly with temperatures around 60 degrees.  Because of the cloudy skies and north breeze it did not warm up at all.  We even got sprinkled on a few times.  Course conditions were good, everything greened up and is blooming.  There were a few other groups on the course.

This course is very unforgiving, one bad throw leads to another.  I made way too many stupid mistakes today.  I had some good throws and then would follow them up with something terrible.  I blaming it on my cold, wet hands.  I missed a few putts but always made my follow-up anger putts.  Most of my pars were because of outstanding (or lucky) throws after a lousy drive.  Everyone had problems with the rough.  Almost everyone had at least one disaster hole.  Bob had some very nice approach shots today and Chris is really getting some distance on his flicks.

Only four birdies were made today:  Steve(2), Keith(1) and Bob(1).  No discs lost, thankfully.  Two discs found, both by Lif.
