Max Starcke Park Twice - Seguin

After a hearty breakfast at Macho Taco, we took a road trip down east of San Antonio to a new course, the Max Starcke Park in Seguin.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Dave, Lif, Bob and myself.  Temperatures were in the low 60's when we started but it was about 77 degrees and almost muggy when we finished.  Skies where mostly cloudy and a persistent breeze of 15 to 20 mph was blowing.

I really liked this course, it is in a city park, situated on an old pecan orchard.  The course is mostly flat with lots of large pecan trees on the fairways.  Throwing low was the key today, to avoid both the lower hanging branches and to keep your disc out of the wind.  The course has nice concrete tee boxes, decent signage and disc catcher baskets.  Most of the baskets seemed to be planted a little too low to the ground.   I also found the course very clean with plenty of trash cans.  It would be nice if they added a few benches.  We liked the course so much we played it twice.

I liked to layout and flow of the course although some of the holes are very similar to one another.  There was no rough to speak of.  Another thing I liked was that the holes had legitimate distances for the pars they were assigned.  The two par 5's could have been a touch longer. Steve birdied both of them on both rounds; the rest of us had a mix of pars and bogies on them.

I played pretty well today.  I got off to a slow start with three bogies but I settled down after that.  My drives were long and straight.  My approach shots were very good, sometimes ending up under the basket.  And I made every putt that I thought I should make.  I did not have any birdies, but I had several opportunities and each time the putt was just outside my comfort range.  I did not have a single double bogey.

There were six birdies on the first round:  Steve(5) and Keith(1).  There were four birdies on the second round: Steve(3) and Keith(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Williamson County - Cold Start

It was a cold start at the Williamson County DGC.  Temperatures were in the 40's when we started but at least the sun was shining.  A pesky breeze gave us trouble all day.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Lif, Brian, Keith, Bob and Heady.  Course conditions were good and there were a few other groups on the course today.

We all stunk it up pretty badly today.  I'm blaming it on the cold weather and the extra clothing.  I prefer to play in the heat.  This course has very tight fairways and it is very difficult to avoid the trees, especially if the breeze takes it.  I could not get my drives going today and my approach shots were terrible.  I did alright with my putting, only missed one putt.  Dave made a very long pressure putt on #6 to save par.

There were five birdies made today:  Steve(2), Keith(1), Dave(1) and Lif(1).  No discs lost but two discs found by Brian and Steve.
Brian starts us off
