Steeplechase Park

We took a trip down south to Kyle, to play the fun and challenging Steeplechase Park course.  Today's players were:  Steve, Big Dave, Chris, Darden and Heady.  It was another warm May day with temperatures in the low 80's when we started at 8:30.  The wind was blowing 15-20mph and there was not a cloud in the sky.  Course conditions were good, looks like they mowed recently.  There were lots of other players on the course, I think a tournament was going on.

I had a pretty average day, my drives were not all that great but I was able to recover (most of the time) with my approach shots.  I don't recall missing any putts.   The wind was a factor with all of us.

There were five birdies made today:  Steve(3), Chris(1) and Big Dave(1).   Two discs lost in the deep murky water (Dave and Chris).   Three discs found in the deep murky water by Chris looking for his and Dave's!   Chris also found one disc in a tree.  Chris was able to return all four discs to their rightful owners.

Haley Nelson Park - Burnet

After I finished playing Galloway Hammond I drove a couple of miles to Haley Nelson Park to play the 9 hole course there.   This was an unremarkable course.  The course was flat, there were some trees to contend with and no water hazards.  Natural dirt tee pads, most of the signage was faded and it was difficult to see the baskets.  They did not have yellow rings on the basket.   I threw some of my drives in the general direction where I thought the basket was.  I don't think I will be playing this course again.

Good thing I noticed the arrow on the post!

Galloway Hammond - Burnet

I woke up very early this morning and felt like playing some disc golf.  I drove up to Burnet, got there about 7:45 and played the Galloway Hammond course first then played the course at Haley Nelson Park.  The Galloway Hammond course is a pretty nice course.  It has elevation changes, water comes into play and has a mixture of open fairways and wooded ones.  I like this course for a change of pace.  My only complaint is that holes 9 thru 13 are repetitive, playing along a creek to the left side.

I had a terrible time putting today.  I could not make a putt from 12 feet.  I must have missed 7 putts.  My drives were ok, took me a while to really get going.
