Roy G. Guerrero - Saturday Round

A small group of us took advantage of the beautiful spring weather to play a round at the Roy G. Guerrero DGC this Saturday.  The players were:  Steve, Dave, Keith and Heady.  When we started the temperatures were in the upper 60's, cloudy skies and only a slight breeze. By the end of the round the skies had cleared, the temperature climbed about 10 degrees and the wind kicked up a bit.  Course conditions were good, the grass was a little tall and wet.  Several other groups were on the course today, we had to wait a while on several holes.

I played a little below average on the front nine but picked it up a bit on the back nine.  I finally found my drive on about hole 11.  Some of my throws were going pretty far, if they did not hit a tree.  I had the shot of the day on #16, I threw it in from about 140 feet out for the days only birdie.  Nothing but basket.

Only one birdie today:  Heady(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

MetCenter

We went southeast today to play the MetCenter course by the airport.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Keith, Lif, Duncan, Bob and myself.  It was a little misty when we started, temperatures in the 70's and no wind.  Course conditions were a bit squishy in some places, but this course is always a little wet.

I played about average today.  My drives were not all that long but my approach shots were pretty accurate.  I did not miss any putts.  Keith had the shot of the day with about a 90 foot birdie on #17.  Bob had several birdie putts bounce of the rim or the basket.

A total of nine birdies were made:  Steve(2), Keith(2), Donald(2), Dave(1), Bob(1) and Lif(1).  No discs found and no discs lost.  We did hit the water a lot.

Big Dave's Birthday Bash

To celebrate Big Dave's 50th birthday, his wife Kelsey gave him a weekend with the Lumberjacks.  We played four courses in two days from Seguin to San Marcos and had a blast doing it!  Everyone played:  Dave, Steve, Lif, Keith, Bob, Heady, Donald, DD, Brian and Mark came down from Dallas.

After breakfast at Macho Taco, we played Max Starke Park in Sequin.  We had lunch at Catalano's Pizzeria in Cibolo, then played the Schlather Park in Cibolo.   We spent the night in Cibolo and the next morning we played the Live Oak course in Live Oak.  After lunch at Schlotzsky's in San Marcos, we finished up by playing the Flying Armadillo.

Steve's daughter made buttons for the event!

We all met up at Macho Taco for breakfast in Manchaca

Max Starcke Park - Seguin, TX

After a very hearty breakfast of Macho Tacos, we dropped out cars off at Steve's house and ventured down the Texas Autobahn to Seguin to play our first round of the trip at the Max Starcke Park.  This is a beautiful course, laid out next to the Guadalupe river in an old pecan orchard.  Skies were mostly cloudy but the temperature was mild and the winds were calm.  It being St. Patrick's day, we wore green and drank Irish Whiskey.

We all played fairly well on this course, no one scored above double digits.  Steve and Mark tied for best score at -2.  There were 20 birdies made, too many to list, none by me :(
