Northtown DGC

A pfun day in Pflugerville at at the Northtown Disc Golf Course.   Today's players were:  Steve, Bob, Keith, Lif and Rob.  Temperatures were in the low 80's, mostly cloudy skies, no wind but very high humidity.  Course conditions were good,  a little muddy, which only added to the humidity.  The creeks were mostly dry and the ponds were at the lowest levels we've ever seen them.  There were lots of other players on the course playing a mini tournament.

I played better than I thought I did, at least on the front nine.  My drives were straight and long and my approach shots were pretty good.  Putting killed me, I missed four easy putts, two for birdies.  Still, I scored better than I thought I played.  We all did pretty well today.

A total of 12 birdies were made:  Steve(4), Keith(2), Bob(2), Lif(1) and Heady(1).  No discs lost, Lif found one in the mud on #12.

Circle C - Hot Day With a Large Group

We started at  8:00 this morning at Circle C to beat the heat and the crowds.  Steve brought Macho Tacos which were delicious as always.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Lif, Mike, Dave, Bob and Heady.  Good to see Mike again.  Temperatures were in the low 80's when we started and in the low 90's when we finished.  Not a cloud in the sky and a pesky breeze would blow occasionally.  Course conditions were very dry.  There were several other groups and solo players on the course.  We let several play through.

We all had a pretty good round today, all of us scoring in the single digits.  Keith and I were even on the front nine and everyone else was only two over!

I guess taking a week off was good for me, I had a pretty good round, I think I tied my personal best for the course.  It did not feel like I was playing that well, I got some lucky rolls and some tree love.  On #2, #3 #7 an #8 I had some very good drives that I converted to birdies.  The relatively easy hole #4 was a disaster for me and I double bogeyed.  Keith had the drive of the day on #13, weaving his disc through the trees and rolling up to the basket.

A total of 13 birdies were made:  Heady(4), Keith(3), Bob(2), Mike(1), Steve(1), Dave(1) and Lif(1).  No disc lost, one disc found by Steve on #16.

Wilco - I did not play

The group played Williamson County today, I was in San Diego.  Looked like it was a warm day with temperatures in the 90's.  Congratulations to Bob for a fine round.  Only two birdies were made, Bob and Lif on #11.  Two All-Star par holes #1 and #12.  Good to see Donald back in the game!

Roy G. Guerrero - Wet Day

It doesn't often rain in Austin during the month of August, but it did not stop us from playing Roy G. this morning.  Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Keith, Bob, Dave and Heady.  Temperatures were in the low 80's, overcast skies, no wind and about 90 percent humidity.  Course conditions were good.  It rained earlier in the morning so things were a bit soggy.  I'm not complaining, we could use a little more.  There were a few other groups on the course today.

I played about my average for this course.  I could not get my drives going and many of my approaches were off.  I was making some long putts, mostly by luck.

Steve had the shot of the day with a birdie on #16 from about 100 feet out.  That was the only birdie of the day.  No discs lost, no discs found.
