North Town - Boxing Day

We played a rare Saturday morning round the day after Christmas at the North Town Disc Golf Course in Pflugerville.  It was a very warm day for late December, temperatures were in the mid 70's when we started.  The skies were overcast with occasional  light drizzle and a pesky wind was blowing.  Today's players were: Steve, Lif, Dave, Brian and Heady.  Course conditions were good and only a few other players were out.

We all played below average, I had problems overthinking my throws and we all had problems with the wind.  Putting was a challenge.  Congrats to Lif for the lowest score of the group.

A total of six birdies made:  Steve(3), Dave(1), Lif(1) and Brian(1).

No discs found, one disc lost by Lif in the pond on #12.

Williamson County

A small group of us played the Williamson County Disc Course this morning.  The players were Steve, Lif and Heady.  Everybody else was busy with the holidays or sick.  Steve brought some Macho Tacos which gave us all Macho Taco energy.  Roscoe joined us today but there was no water on this course for him to run into.   Temperatures were in the 50's when we started and warmed up to the low 60's by the time we finished.  Skies were overcast, it sprinkled a little bit,  and there was a southeast breeze.  No one else on the course today.

I started off fairly strong but ended up playing about average.  I made some long putts but just missed a few that I should have had.  Two of those were for birdies.  The trees on back nine gave me some problems and I started to overthink my throws.  Always a bad idea.

Only three birdies made today:  Steve(2) and Rob(1).  No disc lost, no discs found.

Circle C - Ugly Day

A storm blew thru last night and dropped a couple of inches of rain on Circle C.  The course was very wet and muddy when we played this morning.  Temperatures were in the low 50's and the skies were overcast with occasional drizzle.  At least it wasn't windy.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Keith, Lif and Heady.  We started out with a healthy, hearty breakfast of Macho Tacos that Steve brought.  Only a few other souls braved the elements and were playing the course today.

I ended up about average today.  I had some good drives and I had some poor drives.  My putting was inconsistent, I had a momentary lapse of concentration and ended up three putting #8.  We all had our problems on #18.  The cool temperatures, wet discs, muddy shoes and slick tee boxes took their toll.  Despite the conditions, Steve had another good round ending up two under par.  He was only over par on two holes.

There were eight birdies made:  Steve(6), Dave(1) and Rob(1).  One disc found by Steve on #5 by the tee box.  One disc lost by Steve on #18 into the raging torrent.

Not a lot of pictures today.  The low light made many of the pictures out of focus.

Lif starts us off.  Notice the standing water.

MetCenter

It has been a few months since we've played the Met.  This course is prone to flooding and it is always a good idea to wait at least a week after a rain to let it dry out.  Even though it did not rain during the week the course was a bit squishy in places.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Lif, Keith, Brian and myself.  Weather conditions were very nice.  Temperatures when we started were in the 40's but it warmed up during the round.  Not a cloud in the sky and only a slight breeze.  A few other people were playing the course but we were not delayed.

I played about average, I've been getting more distance on my throws and today my approach shots were all long.  Fortunately,  my putting was on today, I only missed one putt that I should have had.  I did make a 50 putt on #9 with 'Nick Mata' to save par.  Steve continued his stellar play and finished the round one under par.  Dave had some very nice drives and came within a couple of feet of making an eagle on #4.

Seven birdies were made today:  Steve(3), Keith(1), Dave(1), Lif(1) and Heady(1).  No discs found, one disc almost lost on #1 by Steve but he found it when we played #18.
