Circle C - Thanksgiving

A small group played a Thanksgiving Eve round at Circle C.  The players were:  Lif, Dave, Bob and myself.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous.  Warm sunshine, temperatures in the 70's and no wind.  Course conditions were good, maybe a little muddy.  We had some big rains last weekend and the creek was flowing strong.  We had to take the high road between holes 12 and 13 to avoid the water.  There were lots of people playing today and we let several people play through.

I had a pretty good day today.  I was satisfied with my drives.  I had several that had some pretty good distance.  After a slow start my putts started to fall.  I made par on #5 which is something I have rarely done.  My setup game was a little bit off or I could have knocked off about another four strokes.  About halfway through the round I strained tendons in my forearm.  Backhand drives became very painful to throw so I switched to the flick.  I was surprised to get some really good distance flicking my Mamba.  On hole 12 I threw it well past the tree.

Dave had back to back birdies on holes 3 and 4.  We both almost had one on #2.  Dave also had a couple of really long putts fall in to save par.  Dave made par on #18 which I don't think he has ever done before.  A total of three birdies were made:  Dave(2) and Rob(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

MetCenter - Gloomy Day

It was a gloomy day at the MetCenter.  Today's players were:   Steve, Brian, Keith, Dave, Lif and Heady.  When we started it was foggy and the temperature was about 50 degrees. A slight breeze developed, just enough to alter our drives and mess up our putting.  When we finished the temperature had dropped a few degrees.  Course conditions were good, a little muddy from the recent rains and they had mowed the fairways recently.  There were very few other players on the course.

I was throwing my drives well today, my setup shots were inconsistent and my putting was terrible.  I totally choked a couple of short putts.  Keith was also having major trouble with his putting today.  There was just enough wind to make you think about it.  Steve had a great second throw on the dangerous number four.  His disc landed under the basket after a two hundred foot throw.  He had an easy tap in birdie.

Five birdies were made today:  Steve(3), Keith(1) and Rob(1).  Four snowmen were made today, I won't list them.  One of those days.  No discs found, one disc lost by Keith on number 11.  His approach shot went into the cold, deep and muddy water.  It was too cold to go wading today.

Big Dave starts us off.

Circle C - The Eagle Has Landed!

This week we played our old favorite, Circle C, in South Austin.  Today's players were:  Steve, Brian, Keith, Dave, Lif, Bob and myself.  Sunny skies, no wind and the temperature was cool when we started but it warmed up after a few holes.  Course conditions were good, a little muddy in some places.

Steve had the shot of the day, an eagle on number 1.  Steve had a very long drive and ended up in the fairway, just before the gap in the trees.  He then threw his Star Leopard about 150 feet, straight and flat, it settled right in the basket.  It did not even rattle the chains.

Everyone played fairly well today.  Steve, Brian and Dave posted scores significantly better than the last time we played here.  Steve ended up only one over par for the day.  Both Brian and Dave had some very nice approach shots and solid putting.  I missed a couple of putts I should have made, clanked off the the yellow ring.  But I made a couple of putts that I could have easily missed, so I was about even.

A total of one eagle and ten birdies were made today.  Eagles - Steve (1).  Birdies:  Steve(2), Brian(2), Keith(2), Dave(2), Heady(1) and Bob(1).
