East Metro Park - Manor

A small group of players, Steve, Dave, Keith and Rob turned out to play the East Metro Park Disc Golf Course in Manor today.  The weather was perfect, temperatures in the upper 70's, plenty of sunshine and no wind to speak of.  Course conditions were good, a little dry, lots of gnats and the ragweed was in full bloom.  Clouds of pollen would be released when our discs hits the plants.  Very few other players were on the course.

I played about average today, I think I could have played about five strokes better.  I missed a couple of putts and my approach shots were not that accurate.  Steve had a very good round, ending up +3 for the day.  Keith had some problems with his putting, very unlike him.

All of us managed to keep it in the fairway today so we did not spend a lot of time looking for discs in the rough.  I guess we are getting better.  The roughs on this course are the most punishing roughs I have ever seen.  They are very thick and everything has thorns.

Only two birdies were made today:  Rob(1) and Keith(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Austin Ridge Bible Church

Today we played the treacherous and challenging Austin Ridge Bible Church disc golf course.  Playing this course is a hike, in the heat, in the hill country, with randomly placed baskets.  Today's players were:  Steve, Heady, Dave, Lif, Keith and Brian.  Sunny skies, temperatures were a little warm in the upper 80's, moderately humid and an intermittent breeze.  Course conditions were a little overgrown and only one other group playing the course.

We all started out with a healthy, hearty breakfast of Macho Tacos that Steve picked up.  Despite the good breakfast we all played poorly today.  Bad drives and bad putting.  Lots of discs hitting trees.  We all missed easy putts.  Brian did make a very nice 40 footer on #8 to save par!

Looks like four birdies were made:  Keith(2), Dave(1) and Brian(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

North Town - Beautiful Day

The weather was perfect for disc golf this Sunday at the North Town DGC in Pflugerville.  Temperatures were in the upper 70's, lots of sunshine, very low humidity and only a slight breeze.  Today's players were:  Lif, Dave, Brian and myself.  Course conditions were very nice, the rains last week greened up the place.  The course was crowded, a tournament was being played so we had to wait around a lot.  It really broke up the rhythm of the game.

It seems that I can never have a good game here.  I love the course and the layout but I still have not figured it out yet.  Dave had a very nice round and an exceptional back nine.

A total of five birdies were made today:  Dave(4) all on the back nine and Brian(1).

Two discs lost in the pond on #12, Heady and Lif.  No discs found.
