Circle C

We were rained out last weekend so we were all a little rusty when we played Circle C this morning.  That's our excuse.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Lif, Dave and Heady.  Weather conditions were fantastic for the end of August.  Temperatures in the 80's, sunny skies and no wind to speak of.  It was like we were playing in May.  Course conditions were good, there was water in the creek and there lots of people on the course today.

I played a little below my average today.  I started out very well with a birdie on #1, I don't think I've ever done that before.  I thought I had a chance at an eagle but my disc hit a branch before the basket.  Steve is still the only member of the eagle club on this hole.  After my strong start I faltered after the third hole.  I did miss at least three putts that I should have made and I hit my share of trees like everyone else.  I did manage to par #11 for the first time in recent memory.

Only three birdies made today:  Steve(1), Keith(1) and Rob(1).  No discs lost but two discs found.  I found a Beast on #11 looking for Lif's disc.  Steve found a Katana in the trees on #12.

Brushy Creek MUD DGC

We were able to squeeze in a game this morning between storms at the Brushy Creek DGC in Round Rock.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Lif, Keith and Heady. Temperatures were mild for August, in the upper 70's to mid 80's, mostly cloudy skies and no wind.  The humidity is what was bad, around 96%. When the sun would peek out from the behind the clouds it felt like a sauna.  Course conditions were good after the rain. The ground is mostly rocky so there was not too much mud. Quite a few other players on the course today.

None of us played very well today.  I did not have one of my better games today.  I just could not get on track.  This is a very technical course and my throws were not very accurate today.  A few of my drives were very wild.  I also missed a couple of putts that I should have made.

Only three birdies were made today:  Steve(2) and Keith(1).  No discs lost. One disc found by Lif on the first hole.

Searight

It's been a while since we've played Mary Moore Searight in South Austin.  We had another early 8:00AM start to beat the heat and the crowds.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Lif, Keith, Brian, Heady and BOB!  It was good to see Bob again!

This is a relatively easy technical course and we were surprised that they changed things up by reversing the course.  Otherwise, course conditions were good.  It was kind of strange playing it backwards.  This was the least crowded I've ever seen this course.  Only a couple of other small groups playing this morning.

I played alright today, I have a few moments of a lack of concentration but overall I was satisfied with my play.  Steve tore up the course today, crushing the competition.  Bob had the shot of the day on hole #11 (or 8) with a long birdie.  A blind, 130 foot shot that hit the chains with authority! I had an ace run on the next hole.  I thought my drive was going to fly high past the basket, but at the last moment the disc suddenly dropped 10 feet and landed next to the basket.

A total of 13 birdies were made today:  Steve(5), Keith(4), Lif(1), Bob(1), Brian(1) and Heady(1).  No discs lost, one disc found by Brian.
