Austin Ridge Bible Church

In honor of Christmas, Steve, Dave and I played a quick round today at the Austin Ridge Bible Church.  Even though this course is only five minutes away I have not played it since before Thanksgiving.  It's either been raining or I've been dealing with tendonitis in my forearm.  It was cold when we started, about 48 degrees.  The wind was blowing strong from the north but at least the sun was shining.  The brush on the course has really been cleaned up, it looks very nice.  No one else was out there when we started.

The wind really messed up our game.  Driving was unpredictable, approach shots went awry and putting was a challenge.  Steve popped off a few very long drives.  Some of the longest ones I've ever seen him throw.  Must be those Macho Tacos.  When the wind was not blowing I did manage some decent shots.

No birdies were made by the group today, I only had four pars.  No discs lost, one disc found, I found a Champion Sidewinder on #14 (actually closer to the tee pad on #13).

Northtown - One More Time

Keith, the birthday boy, wanted to play Northtown again and the rest of us wanted another crack at it as well.  The players today were:  Steve, Keith, Lif, Dave, Brian, Bob and Heady.  Good to have Bob back! Today is the first day of winter and it pretty much felt like it.  Temperatures were in the low 50's, cloudy skies but no wind.  The course was a little muddy from the past week's rains.  We even had a new water hazard on number 18 that was not there last week.  We pretty much had the course to ourselves, we only saw three other players the whole time.

I felt like I played much better than last week but my score only slightly improved.  I did feel more satisfied with my play today, I did not have very much pain in my forearm and it just felt more fun today.  I was throwing flicks most of the day and was getting pretty good distance on my throws.  If I could have avoided some trees my score would have improved by about five strokes.  Trees are part of the course and there are lots of trees on this course.

A total of seven birdies were made today, we all had one!  Three discs found a watery grave on number 12.

Northtown

We took a trip up north to play Northtown in Pflugerville again. Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Brian, Keith, Lif and myself.  Bob was missed today.  Skies were mostly cloudy, a little drizzle when we started but it turned into a nice day.  Temperatures were in the mid 70's and a pesky wind was blowing.  I don't know what it is about this course, individually the holes do not look that difficult but I never seem to score well.  There are quite a lot of trees and all of us missed putts due to the wind.  I played Brushy Creek yesterday and was nailing my approach shots, about ten feet from the basket.  Today was a different story.

The wind was a factor on several holes today, it turned some drives into long distance rollers.  Steve had made a long birdie putt on number 17 after his drive rolled about 200 feet towards the basket.

A total of five birdies were made:  Steve(2), Brian(1), Dave(1) and Keith(1).

One disc lost, my drive on number 12 did not make it across the pond.  No big deal, it was a throw away disc.

Circle C - Steve does it again!

Today the group played Circle C in South Austin again.  The players today were:  Steve, Bob, Keith, Dave, Brian and myself.  Skies were overcast, temperatures in the mid 50's and a slight breeze from the north.  Course conditions were good and the creek was still flowing strong.

Steve did it again, an Eagle on the first hole!  He got off a long drive and we kidded him about doing it again and he delivered!  He threw the same disc as last time, a Star Leopard, from about 160 feet.  His throw curved next to the tree line and went right into the chains.  Unbelievable!

Overall we had an average round today.  Bob gets the prize for most improved, knocking six strokes off his last round at this course, to tie Steve for the best score today.  I played a little below my average for this course.  I was not getting enough on my throws, at least my arm did not hurt today.

A total of one eagle and five birdies were made today:  Eagles(1) - Steve.  Birdies:  Steve(1), Bob(1), Keith(1), Dave(1) and Brian(1).  I missed the birdie parade today, I did not even have a shot at one.
