Circle C - Vacation Day Round

Steve and I were both off work today so we decided to play a quick round at Circle C.  Steve brought Macho Tacos!   Temperatures were in the low 80's, sunny skies and only a little wind.  Course conditions were good and we pretty much had the course to ourselves.

I played pretty good today.  I messed up in #1 and had a hard time controlling my drives on the front 9, but I was able to settle down on the back nine.  My approach shots were close enough and I made several putts that were outside my comfort zone.  Steve had a great approach shot with his second throw on #14.  He placed the disc under the basket for a tap in birdie.

Steve had four birdies today and I had one.

MetCenter

It was a beautiful day for disc golf at the MetCenter today.  The players today were:  Steve, Chris, Keith, Dave, Lif and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 80's, sunny skies and a dry, light breeze.  Course conditions were good and very dry for the Met.  There were lots of other players on the course.  Thanks to Steve for bringing the Macho Tacos!

I played about average today, I got off to a slow start but was able to string together a few pars.  My approach shots were a little off which lead to some difficult putts.  I made all the putts I should have made.  I did not have any birdies but I also did not have any double bogeys.

There were four birdies made:  Chris(2), Steve(1) and Lif(1).  No discs lost and I think one or two discs found.

Wilco - I did not play, but Lif sure did

I was out of town last week and was not there to see Lif's great game at Wilco.  He finished 4 over par without recording a birdie.  Only failing to record par on three holes.  That is very tough to do, especially on an unforgiving course like Wilco.  Steve had three birdies and finished 6 over.  Chris also had a birdie.

Very crowded today,  had to wait 30 minutes  to start.  Lots of people on the course. Hot weather.  3 disc's found and not sure if Bob got his lost disc back.

Flat Creek - Marble Falls

I finally played the Flat Creek Estates course in Marble Falls.  This course has been on my wish list for years.  This course is only about seven miles from my house but is about an hour drive away on the other side of the lake.  This is a John Houck Design course located at a vineyard.  It plays across a scenic estate with mature trees, water hazards, and elevation change.  There is a combination of wide open holes and tight tunnel shots.  Good signage and well maintained.  Houck likes to make hole #18 the most challenging and this course is no exception.   You have to throw over water twice!

It was a good day to play, temperatures were in the upper 80's to low 90's, sunny skies and an intermittent 10mph breeze.  Course conditions were excellent and I had the entire course to myself.  I started off pretty good with some nice drives, close enough approach shots and solid putting.  I had some difficulty on the back nine, although the holes I bogeyed were some of the least difficult ones on the course.  I did lose a disc on #16 when my flick turned left instead of right and landed in the middle of a swamp of blooming cattails.  I searched for about ten minutes in the muck, when I finally gave up I looked like I had been tarred and feathered.  When I got to #18 and saw that I had to throw 175 feet over water into 10mph head wind,  I decided that discretion was the better of valor and played the short tee.

No birdies for me today (again).  One disc lost, my Tern.  I did find a disc in the muck but decided it was not worth keeping.
