McClain Park - Road Trip

Today we took a road trip to San Antonio to play McClain Park.  We started out with a hearty breakfast at Macho Taco before making the drive down. Today's group consisted of:  Steve, Keith, Dave, Lif, Brian, Mark and Heady.  Bob could not make it today and he was greatly missed.   The weather conditions were mostly cloudy, warm and humid, and only a slight breeze.  Thanks to Dave for special cigars!

This course quickly became one of my favorites.  The holes are mostly short but very challenging, requiring accurate throws to avoid the trees.  I just like the feel and the flow of this course. I like the variety of holes, some tight tunnel fairways, others are wide open, some elevation changes and some water hazards.  Mark found the water on #18 but was able to retrieve his disc.  We all liked the course so much we played the front nine a second time.

I played all right today even though I did not drive very well.  I hit a lot trees with my drives and approach shots but my putts were going in for the most part.  I had shot at an ace on #16, my drive skipped and hit the pole, an easy birdie.

No discs lost, no discs found.  Four birdies were made during the first round:  Rob(2), Steve(1), Lif(1).  Two birdies were made during the second round of the front nine:  Mark(2).  Keith had a good back nine, making par on every hole.
