East Metro Park - What a day

Today's round at East Metro Park (Manor) was rather interesting.  Today's group consisted of Steve, Big Dave, Bob, Keith and me.  The weather conditions when we started were pretty good.  Overcast skies, light winds and the temperature was about 70 degrees.  After we teed off on the third hole we heard a low rumble and could see the trees moving.  March came in like a lion.  The cold front blew in at 9:12 with gusty winds and cold temperatures.  We were expecting it to arrive a few hours later and were not prepared for it.  Fortunately, I brought along a long sleeve shirt but poor Keith played with sleeveless arms.  The temperature dropped thirty degrees in about an hour and a steady rain was falling as we finished up on number 18.

Steve had the shot of the day with a near ace on #6.  His drive went straight past the basket, missing it by about a foot.  It hit a tree directly behind the basket and wound up next to the pole.  A total of four birdies were made today:  Steve (3) and Keith (1).  The scores reflect the weather conditions today.  The last two holes were brutal, the rain was coming down, it was 39 degrees and the wind was blowing at 20 mph.  We could not feel our fingers and somehow we still got off some good throws.  We also got off quite a few bad ones too!

One disc found, I found a blue Sidewinder (Star Plastic), looks brand new.  It was in the middle of a cactus patch and I had to be careful when I recovered it..  Keith left a disc behind on #2.  After we finished he went back to look for it.  The rest of us got back to our cars and turned the heaters on high.

Bob starts us off with a flick

Walking the fairway on #1.  The calm before the storm.

Steve with a nice drive on #2.  Nice line, just a touch too strong.

The cold front has arrived

Bob was throwing a lot of flicks today.

Keith Driving

Dave and Keith retrieve their discs from the frigid water.

Dave with a tough putt on #10

Rob with a tough putt from the moat

I had a good drive on #11, my lay up shot went wild and left me with a long putt for par.

My disc hit the pole and rolled all the way back down. Ended with a double bogey.

Bob driving

Heady preparing to drive.  Keith keeping warm.

Smoke on the water...

Brutal conditions.

Steve finishing up.  Bob taking scores quickly
