North Town Disc Golf Course - Pflugerville

Today we played a newly discovered course, North Town in Plugerville.  This is an eighteen hole neighborhood course and we all thought it was a pretty fine course with a nice variety of shots.  It has some long, wide open shots and some tight tunnel shots, some elevation changes and it even has drives across water.  It was an extremely clean course, I don't think we saw any litter at all on the course.  A small creek runs through the course that adds an element of danger. The drive over the pond on #12 is very intimidating.  If you doubt your courage or your strength, then play the short tee, for a watery death awaits your disc.

One thing I did not like about this course were the rutted, loose gravel tee pads.  We often threw our tee shots on the hard dirt next to the tee box.  The other thing I did not like were the Mach 5 baskets instead of DISCatcher baskets.  I lost a birdie on #16, when my soft-tossed twelve foot putt, hit the dead center of the basket, struck the pole and bounced out.  Keith had as similar problem, from a much greater distance, with the basket rejecting his eagle shot.

Overall this is a fun and challenging course.  We will definitely have to play this course again after the trees leaf out.  Today's group consisted of Lif, Dave, Steve, Bob, Keith, Burko and myself.  Burko had to bail out after a few holes to deal with an intestinal issue.  Temperatures were in the low 70's, overcast sky and a moderate breeze.

Steve scored and eagle today on hole11, a par 5.  A total of five birdies were made:  Keith(3), Steve(1) and Lif(1).  Good use was made today of Lif's Rake-Anator 3000.  Bob was able to recover Dave's, Keith's and his discs from the frigid waters.  He also found an Innova Champion Boss distance driver in the pond on #12.  I did all right today, after a slow start I had some really good drives on the back nine and put together a string of seven pars in a row.
