Steeplechase Park, Kyle

For the first round of the year we decided to play a course that we have not played in years, Steeplechase Park down south in Kyle.  This is a neighborhood park that is built in a flood plain.  A small creek meanders through the course and comes into play on many of the holes.  I don't know why we stopped playing this course, it has a nice mix of short and long holes.  Trees and water come into play and there are elevation changes.  It can be challenging.

A front blew threw last night and dropped about a half an inch of rain.  The little creek was flowing strong and the tee boxes were a little slick.  Temperatures were in the 60's when we started and climbed into the mid 70's by the time we finished.  Not a cloud in the sky but a strong wind picked up on the 4th hole and really messed up our scores.

We had a small group this morning.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Bob and Heady.  Course conditions were good.  I would like to play this course after the trees leaf out in the spring.  A few other groups were on the course today.  I think we all played about average today.  The wind robbed each of us of about 5 strokes.  I did choke on a couple of putts that I can't blame on the wind.

A total of five birdies were made today:  Keith(2), Rob(2) and Steve(1).  No discs lost but I lost a disc on hole #15 into the deepest part of the creek.  It was the Champion Beast that I found at Circle C last summer.  I really liked that disc, but easy come easy go.
