Steeplechase - The Wind Was Blowing

We met up at Macho Tacos in Manchaca at 8:00 to enjoy some breakfast tacos before heading down to Kyle to play Steeplechase.  Today's players were: Dave, Chris, Keith, Darden, Bob and Heady.  Steve had surgery on Friday so he was walking the course for exercise.  Temperatures were in the upper 60's when we started, sunny skies but a 20mph wind was blowing from the north.  Course conditions were fair.  The creek was almost totally dry and there were lots of tall weeds.  We spent a long time looking for errant throws.  Hole number 9 was truncated to make room for a playscape.  It's now a par 3.

I played about average today.  I made some stupid mistakes on some easy holes and that cost me a few strokes.  The wind was making it difficult for everyone.  Putting was an adventure.  I had the shot of the day with a birdie from halfway down the fairway on #8.

There were four birdies made today:  Darden(3) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and one disc found by Steve.

Steeplechase - Father's Day

We met up at Macho Taco's in Manchaca for a sumptuous breakfast before heading down to Kyle to play the Steeplechase DGC.  Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Chris, Keith and Heady.  The temperature and the humidity were both in the 80's.  Mostly sunny skies and a light breeze to cool the sweat.  Course conditions were fair.  The creek had a lot of water and the course could use a good mowing.  There were a few other players on the course.

My front nine was not good.  I had good drives today but my approach shots and putting on the front nine were terrible.  I played even par on the back nine and made two fairly long putts, one for birdie.  Steve had some grip issues on the back nine.  Lif was a birdie machine.

There were ten birdies made today:  Lif(4), Chris(3), Steve(1), Keith(1) and Heady(1).  No discs found, one disc lost in the jungle on #2 by Steve.

Some of the pictures and videos are out of order.  Blogger was being difficult today.

Steeplechase - Kyle

Several us us met up at Macho Taco in Manchaca for a filling breakfast.  Afterwards, we car pooled to Kyle to meet the rest of the group.  The players today were:  Steve, Lif, Keith, Chris, Darden and Heady.  The weather was near perfect.  It was a little chilly when we started with temperatures in the upper 40's.  It warmed up to the upper 60's when we finished.  The skies were sunny and there was hardly any breeze blowing.  Course conditions were good (except for hole #18), the creek had plenty of water!   There were a good number of other players on the course.

Everyone had a pretty good round today.  I played well today, I got off to a slow start on #1 but I got my rhythm going by the second hole.  My drives could have been a little longer, but they stayed in the fairway.  Keith was snapping off some long straight drives.   Both Lif and Darden almost made an eagle on #9 from over 200 feet out.  Lif skipped off the basket and Darden clanged off the ring.

We had to skip hole #18.  There was a large youth soccer game going on in the park.  Several people decided take the shady location of the #18 basket to watch their children play.

There were 13 birdies made today:   Lif(4), Chris(4), Keith(3), Steve(1) and Heady(1).  No discs lost, we almost lost a couple.  One disc found, high in the trees on #4.
