Steeplechase Park - Perfect Day

Steve and I met up at Macho Tacos for some migas before heading down to meet Dave Darden at the Steeplechase DGC.  Temperatures were in the low 70's, not a cloud in the sky and hardly any breeze.  Course conditions were good, it got some rain recently.  There were several other groups on the course, we had to wait a few times.

I played about my average for this course, I did miss several putts, including a short one that hit the pole and bounced out in slow motion.  Darden got off to a slow start then he became a birdie machine.  He also just  missed a couple of long birdie putts when his disc bounced off the front of the basket.

There were nine birdies made:  Darden(5), Steve(3) and Heady(1). No discs lost and no discs found.  Steve did lose his stick somewhere on the course.

Austin Ridge Bible Church - Brutal

For some reason, we played the Austin Ridge Bible Church this morning.  Today's players were:  Dave, Keith and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 80's, skies were partly cloudy and a slight breeze was blowing.  Course conditions were fair (this course needs some love).  We pretty much had the course to ourselves.

I got off to a slow start, only recording one par on the front nine.  I picked it up a little on the back nine.  Keith had a great drive on #17 that broke perfectly, he wound up with a tap in birdie.  Dave made a long putt for birdie on #7.  Keith gave us a moment of levity when his drive on #2 smashed into the sign that was ten feet off the front of the tee pad.  The sign wavered for a moment then fell over.

Only two birdies made today, Dave and Keith.  No discs lost and no discs found.

Circle C - First Full Day of Autumn

It's been a couple of months since we've played Circle C, so we thought today would be a good day for it.  Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Dave, Chris, Keith and Heady.  It was a warm day, with temperatures in the upper 80's, sunny skies and a 10mph breeze.  Course conditions were good but dry.  There were lots of other players on the course.  Chris and I have been on vacation for two weeks so it was good to see everyone again.

I played about my average for this course.  I either had perfect throws or really bad ones.  I can't believe I made a double bogey on #4 but I did make par on #5!  Chris started very hot with birdies on the first three holes.  He ended up with an impressive score of -2.

There were seven birdies made today:  Chris(4), Lif(2) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Cougar Point - Sonora CA

Chris and I were in the California mountains last week and we got in a round at the Cougar Point DGC.  It was a warm, sunny day, with temperatures in the upper 80's and low humidity.  There was only a slight breeze.  Course conditions were fair, lots of Foxtail grass.  The sharp little spears got all in my socks and shoes.  We were the only players on the course, in fact, we were the only people in the park!

This was an fun course but it could have some improvements.  Tee pads were either dirt or thick plastic.  Navigating the course was a challenge, we played the wrong basket once.  The tall grass made it difficult to find your discs.  I only brought two discs and a putter.  One disc was yellow and the other was orange.  It made it kind of hard to find sometimes.  The course is mostly open with enough trees to keep in interesting.  There were some elevation changes but no water hazards.

Only one birdie made, by me!  No discs lost and no discs found.

I got a birdie on #3

Roy G. - Hot and Dry

We met up at 8:30 this morning or another crack at the newly redesigned Roy G. Guerrero.  Today's players were:  Steve, Big Dave, Darden, Keith and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 90's, sunny skies and only a slight breeze.  Course conditions were extremely dry.  We really need a lot of rain soon or a lot of trees are going to die.  There were many other groups on the course.

I scored the same as last time we played here.  My drives were not all that strong and my approach shots were a little short.  I missed a few key putts.  I did figure out my drives on the back nine and got some decent distance.  I think I could shave of 5 or 6 strokes on this course after we play it a few more times.

Only one birdie made today by Darden on #16 (see video).  No discs lost and no discs found.
