Austin Ridge Bible Church

It's been a while, since last summer, since the group has played the Austin Ridge Bible Church.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Lif, Chris and Heady.  Temperatures were in the low 70's, overcast skies and an occasional breeze.  Course conditions were fair, lots of trees came down with the winter storm.  Holes #13 and #14 are still closed.  So we played the first three a second time.  There were a few other players on the course.  Thanks to Steve for bringing the Macho Tacos!

I did about my average for this course.  I got off to a slow start but managed to get in a groove for a few holes.  Keith had an injured hand and was having a great deal of difficulty getting accuracy and distance with his throws.  I give him a lot of credit for trying.  He did nail some impressive putts!

Only four birdies were made today:  Steve(2), Chris(1) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and Chris found one in the pond before we started.

Circle C - Rasputitsa

We have not played for two weeks because of the worst winter weather ever recorded in Austin.  We had seven days of below freezing temperatures and five weather systems that dropped over seven inches of snow with rounds of ice and sleet.  It was good to see the sun and play some disc golf at Circle C.  Chris and Lif played yesterday at North Town and the pond still had ice covering it (see pictures at the end).  Today's players were:  Steve, Chris, Lif and Heady.  Temperatures were a pleasant, in the 60's.  Mostly sunny skies and an intermittent breeze.  Course conditions were fair, lots of mud from the thawing snow. Several trees were down, including one across the #3 fairway.  A fair amount of other players were on the course.

I started off poorly with bogies on four of the first five holes.  The muddy conditions made for some slippery footwork.  I took a tumble with my approach shot on #1, my heel caught on a piece for rebar and I went down.  Luckily I was not injured, my head just missed a stump.  After the slow start I recovered and ended up with a decent score.  I was able to snap off some long, accurate fairway throws and hit some clutch putts.

Only two birdies were made today:  Chris(1) and Steve (1).  No discs lost or found.

Steeplechase - Kyle

We ventured down south today to play the Steeplechase DGC in Kyle.  Today's players were:  Steve, Darden, Keith, Chris, Lif and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 40's when we started but warmed up to the 60's.  Sunny skies and a pesky wind developed during the back nine.  Course conditions were good, the creek had flowing water and they changed the basket locations on several holes.  There were many other players on the course enjoying the pleasant weather.

I had more bad drives than good drives today.  I was able to save par most of the time with good approach shots and lucky putts.  I did have a couple of disaster holes and was surprised my score was only 7 over.  Chris had a great round with four birdies (and just missed a couple of more) and an ended up below par!

A total of seven birdies were made today:  Chris(4), Lif(1), Keith(1) and Darden(1).  No discs lost (fortunately) and one disc found in water by Steve.
