Austin Ridge Bible Church - Muddy and Overgrown

Since we've had a lot of rain this week we decided to play the Austin Ridge Bible Church since it so rocky.  Today's players were:  Steve, Bob, Lif, Dave, Darden and Heady.  It was very humid with temperatures in the low 80's.  Mostly cloudy skies and an occasional breeze.  The course was very overgrown and a bit slick and muddy.  Holes 13 and 14 were closed due to construction, so we played the first three over again.  Only one other group was on the course.

I had some very good drives again today, too bad my approach shots let me down.  I could not get close enough for an easy putt and I missed several.  Steve had the shot of the day with a birdie on #1 from about 75 feet out.  DD topped that with a birdie on the second time thru on #2 (with tree love) from about 80 feet out.  Bob had a fantastic drive on #17 and ended up below the basket.  Steve made par on the very difficult #8 and Bob made par on the very difficult #10.  Dave made back to back birdies on #17 and #18.

A total of nine birdies were made today:  Steve(2), Dave(2), Bob(2), Heady(2) and DD(1).  No discs lost (but we came close a couple of times) and no discs found.

Circle C - Keith and I

Keith won't be able to play Sunday so we played a round a Circle C on Saturday.  Temperatures were in the upper 70's to low 80's, humidity at 90%, mostly cloudy skies and some wind.  We got caught in a brief shower on hole #7, but after that the weather was pretty nice.  Course conditions were a little muddy, tee pads were slick and many of the fairways could use a good mowing.  The creek had flowing water in it.  There was no one else on the course.

I played better than I did last week.  I was even after the first nine, but a few problems on the back nine.   I had some pretty long throws, on #5 I made it down to where the fairway turns.  I think that was my best drive ever on that hole.  If only I could throw like that every time.

We made four birdies today:  Heady(2) and Keith(2).  No discs lost, I found a disc on #7, a Latitude Blitz.

Water was up in the creek

Circle C

After two weeks off, it was good to be playing back with the group.  Today we played our old favorite, Circle C in South Austin.  Today players were:  Bob, Dave, Keith, Steve and myself.  Skies were mostly cloudy, it was a little humid with temperatures were in the upper 70's to low 80's with an occasional breeze.  Course conditions were a little slick and muddy due to the recent rains.

I was a little rusty today and my play was inconsistent.  I had a few good drives but had a lot more that were terrible.  My approach shots were not as accurate and I choked on a par putt on #5.  The slick footing and mud did not help.  Keith was the only one of the group that had a decent round.

Only four birdies were made today:  Steve(2), Keith(1) and Rob(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Westside Park - Marble Falls

I've been on vacation this week and the weather was nice, so I decided to drive to Marble Falls and play the Westside Park DGC.  I really like this course, a nice combination of technical shots and long bombs.  Temperatures were in the middle 80's, partly cloudy skies and lots of mosquitoes from the recent rains.   The creek that passes through the course was running high.  I had to remove my shoes to cross the creek on #6.  I did not play hole #17 because there was no place to cross.  So I played the first hole a second time.

Overall a good relaxing round, I made two birdies and just missed two more.  I had a couple of disaster holes on #9 and #15 but ended up just three over for the day.  I pretty much had the course to myself.  I did run into a couple of regulars when I was trying to cross the creek on #6.  They said there was a bridge but it was washed out from the rains.  No discs lost but I did find two.

First basket
My drive on #3.  I could not see the water when I threw

Rather intimidating.  My drive sucked.  Did not want to risk a mulligan!

Looking for a way across

The #8 basket

I threw a mulligan on #11.  Bad idea.  Stuck in the trees.

I paid the price getting thru the green briar.

Not much of a fairway on #12

This is usually dry.  I threw one of my found discs

I could not cross the creek to #17
