Badu Park DGC, Llano

 I took a relaxing drive in the Hill Country today out to enjoy the bluebonnets.  I stopped by Cooper's BBQ in Llano and had delicious and filling lunch of brisket, sausage and all the sides  There is a short, nine-hole disc golf course, about a quarter of mile from Coopers called Badu Park.  I decided to play a postprandial round with my backup disc golf bag in my trunk.

This is family friendly course, set alongside the Llano River Lake with the longest hole being 229 feet.  It is almost entirely open, with only a few trees and boulders to throw around.  It featured concrete tee pads and DisCatcher baskets. I made par on every hole, I probably would have had a few birdies if I was not so stuffed from lunch.   While it was a sunny afternoon, temperatures were a bit cool, around 55 degrees and the wind was blowing about 15-20 mph.

This is not the kind of course I would go out of my way to play, but it was a good way to walk off a heavy lunch.

Wilco - Spring Forward

 We played up north this week at the Williamson County DGC.  Daylight savings time began today so we were all a bit groggy.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Lif, Chris, Darden, Mike and Heady.  It was a bit cool when we started with temperatures in the lower 60's, mostly cloudy skies and a 15mph north wind.  Course conditions were not bad, you could see some freeze damage.  There were lots and lots of players on the course.

I played very poorly today.  I had no power on my drives, I had little control on my approaches and my putting was just terrible.  

There were five birdies made today:  Chris(2), Darden(2) and Steve(1).  One disc almost lost by Lif on his approach to #15, somehow it made it to fairway on #16.  One disc found by Darden on #18.

East Metro Park, Manor

 It was a very pleasant day to play a round of disc golf at the East Metro Park.  Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Keith and Heady.  It was cloudy and about 65 degrees when we started and about halfway through, the clouds burned off and it was a very sunny day.  The wind was really not a factor.  Course conditions were good, it looks like the ice storm did not do too much damage.  Only a few solo players were on the course, we let Grateful Ted play through.

Steve was on fire today with four birdies on the front nine, including three in a row.  All day his throws were long and straight, sometimes too long.  Keith is back!  He had some really impressive long throws.  Lif didn't have one of his better days, too many trees kept getting in the way.

I played about average.  I had a few lousy approaches and missed a few putts, off the ring.  I had a real nice drive, with a flick on #14.  Had a chance, sailed right past the basket.

A total of five birdies were made today:  Steve(4) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.
