The Church on Sunday

Today we stayed close and played the Austin Ridge Bible Church.  This is a very unforgiving course, with rugged terrain and tight fairways.  Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Bob, Dave and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 80's, sunny skies and a cool breeze.  Course conditions were dry and a little overgrown in places.  We saw two other groups on the course.  Thank you Steve for bringing breakfast,  a Macho Taco is needed before taking on this course.

I was not happy with my game today, I kept hyzering my drives and I wound up in the rough far too often.  When I did throw one straight it didn't have the distance that I've been getting in the past few weeks.  My approach shots were a little off.  My putting was decent, I only missed one putt.   Bob had a great drive on #17 and had a pretty easy birdie.  Not easy to do on that hole.

Only four birdies were made today:  Heady(1), Steve(1), Bob(1), and Lif(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

North Town - A Mudder of a Day

We went north this Sunday to Pfluggerville, to play North Town.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Dave, Bob and Heady.  Temperatures were in the low 80's, skies were overcast and slight breeze would blow.  Course conditions were muddy due to the rains this week.  Several areas of the course were flooded.

I played about average today, I was satisfied with most of my drives, my approach shots were a little off and my putting was terrible.  I must have missed six putts.  Good to see Bob back from vacation/honeymoon, he had a good game with three consecutive birdies.  Thanks to Bob for all of the good cigars from the Dominican Republic.

A total of 6 birdies were made today:  Bob(4), Steve(1) and Keith(1).  Two discs lost in the pond on #12,  Heady and Keith.  No discs found and no baseball cards found.

Great cigars Bob!

East Metro Park (Manor)

We proved today that you can play Manor in August, it does help if you stay in the fairways.  Today's players were:  Steve, Mark, Dave, Keith, Lif, Donald and Heady.  Temperatures were in the70's when we started a 8:30 and around 90 when we finished at 11:45.  Skies were partly cloudy and a refreshing breeze blew through once in a while.  Course conditions were very dry and we did not see any other players on the course.

We have always been reluctant to play this course in the summer, the rough is punishing with countless varieties of thorny plants.  It has been so dry that the rough, while still thorny, was not too bad.  We did encounter a couple of park employees who were out looking for rattlesnakes.

I did not feel like I played that well today, but I did end up with a decent score.  I think I only had about four drives that I was satisfied with.  My approach shots are what saved me today and I was not forced to make any long putts.  I did miss a fairly easy putt on #2 and hole #18 was a disaster for me.  Mark played below his average but he was fatigued from playing every day this week with Steve.

A total of eight birdies were made today:  Steve(2), Donald(2), Keith(1), Lif(1), Mark(1) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.
