Steeplechase - Halloween

The National Amateur Disc Golf Tour was being played in the Austin area this weekend and they were using just about every course we play.  They were not playing Steeplechase in Kyle so we headed down there.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Lif, Dave and Heady.  The weather was perfect for an 8:30 start with temperatures in the upper 50's, clear and sunny skies and no wind to speak of.  Course conditions were good.  They had mowed some of the fairways.  The creeks were all full and flowing.  There were a fair number of other players on the course.

I played alright today and ended up with a respectable score.  I still had problems with my drives, but I got a few good ones also.  I made most of my putts including some long ones.  Steve found his drive this week and was throwing for some impressive distances.  Keith had some good drives and seems to have straightened out his throws.  I don't recall him having any wild throws.

There were 10 birdies made today:  Steve(4), Lif(2) and Dave(2).  One disc found by Steve and no discs lost, although we tried.

This is next weekend!

Old Settler' Park - Round Rock

It was a foggy, drizzling morning when we started at Old Settlers' Park.  The Macho Tacos that Steve brought helped warm us up.  Today's players were:  Steve, Chris, Lif, Keith, Dave and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 70's, cloudy when we started and not much wind.   Course conditions were good.   A little slick in spots and they just put down a ton of mulch.  There were not many other players on the course.

I had such a bad game that I should have stayed home.  I had my shoulder worked on by a Chiropractor on Friday and it was still sore.  My control was all over the place and my distance was cut down.  I did manage a birdie on on #13.  My one good drive and a 25 foot putt.  Other than that I only made par on one other hole.  The rest of the group did not have a good game either.  Lif and Chris had a good front nine but the back nine gave us all problems.  Congrats to Lif for the best score!

There were five birdies made:  Steve(2), Chris(2) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Circle C - Sunrise Start

We knew that the perfect weather today would bring out throngs of players so we decided on an 7:30AM start at Circle C.  We were right.  There were already players on the course when we arrive.  Today's players were Steve, Lif, Keith, Dave (who showed on the 2nd hole) and Heady.  You can tell the seasons are changing, the temperature when we started was 47 degrees.  Skies were clear and the wind was calm.  Course conditions were good.  The creek was high due to the rains we got this week.

None of us had a stellar game today.  Cold temperatures made it a little difficult on the grip.  I did not have a good round (again).  Dave had a great shot on #13 from about 75 feet out to save par.  Only one birdie made today and that was by Steve on #17.  No discs lost today but one disc found by Steve on #12.
