Zilker Park - Last Round of the Year

We decided to play Zilker Park for the last round of the year.  The players were:  Chris, Keith, Lif, Dave and Heady.  Another warm day for December with temperatures near 80.  Very humid conditions and a slight, but pesky breeze was blowing the cedar pollen everywhere.  Course conditions were good and there were a fair amount of players on the course.

My problem today was consistency.  I would have great throw and then follow it up with a terrible one.  The breeze did affect everyone today.  Chris was snapping off some very impressive drive.

Only six birdies were made:  Chris(3), Dave(1), Lif(1) and Heady(1).

Circle C - Boxing Day

Twas the day after Christmas and twas a good day to play Circle C again.  The players were:  Steve, Dave, Chris and Heady.  A warm December day with temperatures in the upper 70's, cloudy skies and an occasional breeze.  The cedar trees were exploding with pollen.  There were lots of other players on the course.  Lots of solo players trying out their new discs and getting away from the in-laws.

I was a little off today but played better than last week.  I had some errant throws and I missed a couple of putts.   Steve had a pretty good round, ending up below par.

There were seven birdies in the round, everyone got at least one:  Steve(4), Dave(1), Chris(1) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Circle C - Chilly Start

It was a cold start at Circle C this morning.  Temperatures were about 40 degrees when we started.  At least the sun was out and there was not a lot of wind.  Course conditions were very good, they cleaned up a lot of the brush and put in new signage for the tournaments played there a couple of weeks ago.  There were many other players on the course.

The cold weather and bulky clothes contributed to low scores today.  We all got off to a slow start but Steve was able to pick it up on the back nine.  My flick was working great on the front nine but left me on the back nine.  A little breeze picked up and I kept turning my disc over.  At least I made my putts today. Steve had another great approach shot on #14.  From halfway down the fairway he threw his disc under the basket for a tap in birdie.

Only three birdies made:  Steve(2) and Dave(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Searight Park - South Austin

I have not played Searight in years, it is usually very crowded and this morning was no exception.  Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Keith and Heady.   It was a chilly start with temperatures in the 30's.  I wore jeans for the first time since last winter.  The sun was shining and there was no wind, so it didn't really feel that cold.  The dry air allowed the temperatures rise quickly.   Course conditions were good, still too many trees.  The ground was very dry and hard, allowing for some good skips.

I played about average, some good drives and some bad drive.  A lack of concentration cost me a couple of strokes and I had a couple of disaster holes.  My flick was working today.  I had a very good drive on #7.   Flicked it down the middle, between the trees on either side of the fairway and the disc skipped up just short of the basket.  My only birdie of the day.

Only three birdies made today:  Steve(2) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.
