We had a full day of disc golf at the Max Starcke Park in Seguin on a Labor Day Sunday. We originally planned to do this for Steve's birthday a couple of weeks ago but COVID-19 changed our plans. Today's players were: Steve, Dave, Keith, Lif, Darden, Chris, Heady, Bob and Beth. It was cloudy and a little cool when we started the first round at 8:30 by the time we finished the second round it was sunny and hot. The huge old pecan trees do provide plenty of shade. Course conditions were good, looked like they had some good rains this week. There were lots of other players on the course.
After the first round, we enjoyed a wonder feast of grilled pork provided by Chris V. BBQ. Bob and Beth brought a watermelon and a birthday cake for Steve. Everything was delicious and I probably ate too much.
This is such an enjoyable course to play in the summer. The pecan trees massive and present some challenges. Dave had a perfect first round, 18 straight pars! Halfway thru the first round, Dave Darden popped something in his forearm which caused him considerable pain. He tried playing thru it, even got pretty good throwing left handed. Lif was able to wrap it up between rounds and Dave was back to old self for the second round.
Steve and Chris were birdie machines in the first round with four birdies each. Bob made a long distance birdie on #3 for the shot of the day. Chris was nailing long distance putts all day. I had a decent first round, only missing one putt. The second round was not as good. My drives were not bad, but my approach shots were a little off, leaving me with putts just outside my comfort range. I missed most of them.
