Old Settlers Park

Today we took a road trip to Round Rock and played the Old Settlers' Park Disc Golf Course.  I've never played this course before but I've heard about it.  The weather was perfect, sunny, calm, maybe a little warm.  This is a long course, it includes three bonus holes, for a total of 21 holes.  Some of the holes are ridiculously long, number 17 is over 1000 feet!  This would be a tough course to play in July.  Not many trees, so shade would be hard to find.   The signature hole on the course is number 16.  The tee box is on the dam and you have to throw over open water.  Everyone made it without losing a disc.

The course is easy to navigate, the tee pads are adequate, and all the tees are marked.  Plenty of trash cans, the course is free of litter.  No benches though.  I was very surprised to see only one other group playing today.

The players today were Steve, Keith, Lif, Dave, Bob and myself.  Only two birdies were made today, one by Dave and one by Steve.  No discs found, no discs lost, although mine got wet.  I had to use Lif's retriever stick to get it out the water. After we played, Keith, Lif, Dave and I enjoyed BBQ at the Salt Lick.
