Flying Armadillo - San Marcos

We met up at 8:00am at Macho Taco in Manchaca for a delicious and spicy breakfast before heading down to San Marcos to play the Flying Armadillo.  It's been almost a year since we last played this course.  Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Chris, Keith and Heady.  Temperatures were mild for December, it was in the mid 70's when we started.  A light misty drizzle was falling but did not last long.  Skies were overcast and a pesky breeze developed about the time we started the third hole.  Course conditions were good and it was not crowded at all.

We started out playing the warm up course for fun and practice.  I played a little below my average today.  I had a hard time with my accuracy.  I had a couple of good drives and threw a lot of flicks.   We all hit our share of trees.  Steve and Lif both had pretty good games.

There were eight birdies made today:  Steve(4), Lif(3) and Chris(1).  No discs lost, one arrowhead found by Steve.

Austin Ridge Bible Church - Gluttons for Punishment

It's been a while since we've played The Church.  Every time we play I am reminded why we don't play it very often.  Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Dave, Chris and Heady.  It was a little chilly when we started, temperatures were in the mid 50's, but the sun was out and the wind was not blowing.  So it felt comfortable.  Course conditions were fair.  It seems the fairways get tighter every time we play here.  There was a mini tournament going on, so the course had more players than usual.

Steve had another good round, Chris played respectable, the rest of didn't play that well.  I played worst of all.  I had trouble with my accuracy and power today.  When I finally got off a good throw the disc would always hit an unseen branch.  Three triple bogies!  At least my putting didn't let me down today.

There were five birdies made today:  Steve(4) and Chris(1).  No discs lost, I found one disc on the #3 fairway, a yellow leopard, while I was looking for my yellow leopard!  Momentarily confused me...

Thanksgiving Eve - Zilker (I did not play) Westside Part (I did play solo)

Steve, Dave and Bob played a morning round at Zilker.  Steve said it was not too crowded. There are 2 temporary holes A and B, par 3's.  Steve put his disc under the basket on my drive on 8.  After Manor this was a cakewalk.  There were four birdies made:  Steve(2) and Bob(2).

I played a solo round in Marble Falls in the afternoon.  Got to work on a few things.  My flick has really improved thanks to a tip Chris told me.  I had some really good drives and approach shots.  I only had one birdie but three more hit metal.  I ended up 1 over for the day.

East Metro Park - Manor

It was a warm, muggy morning for a round of disc golf at the East Metro Park in Manor, Texas.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Lif, Keith and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 70's, mostly cloudy skies, a bit on the humid side and no wind to speak of.  Course conditions were excellent, the fairways were recently mowed and a lot of the brush in the rough has died back.  There were only a couple of other players on the course.

My problems continued thru this week.  My drives aren't all that bad, I just don't have the strength.  My fairway shots are wild and I missed a few putts.  Steve had a great round ending up below par.

A total of four birdies were made:  Steve(3) and Dave(1).  No discs lost and two discs found.
