East Metro Park - Manor

We had a small group turn out this morning for a late summer round at the East Metro Park in Manor.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Donald and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 80's, low clouds when we started that burned off quickly and there was hardly any wind.  Course conditions were good for late August.  The fairways were mowed, the spiders were out and the rough was deep.  We pretty much had the course to ourselves.  There was a Grateful Ted sighting.

I played OK for this course, I was not getting the distance on my drives.  My approach shots could have been a little better and I only missed one putt.  I made par on two holes that always give me trouble, #8 and #12.  But I made bogey or worse on holes that I usually par or birdie.

There were seven birdies made today:  Steve(3), Donald(3) and Dave (1).  No discs lost and two discs found.

Max Starke Park - Road Trip to Seguin

We took our annual road trip to Seguin to play the beautiful Max Starke Park.  Happy birthday to Steve and Chris.  Today's players were: Steve, Chris, Lif, Darden, Dave, Keith, Donald and Heady.  We met up at 8:00 in Manchaca at Macho Taco for a delicious and filling breakfast.  Then from Steve's house we made caravan to Seguin.    Course conditions were very good.  It was a little warm with temperatures in the 90's and sunny skies. Playing the shade from the century old pecan trees made the round all that more enjoyable.  There were a fair number of other players on the course.

We all got off to a slow start (except Donald).  Lif continued his fine play, recording two birdies.  Donald had a very good round, only one birdie, but he must have had half a dozen shots at birdie that hit chains or metal.   Keith had a good round, with some long straight throws and recording five pars.  He will be back to old self before the end of the year.  Big Dave had the shot of the day with a long distance birdie on #12.  He seems to make one of those almost every round.  I was about my average for this course, no birdies for me but I had a look or two.  I had some decent drives and my approach shots left me with easy putts.  This is a forgiving course, if you have a bad drive you still have a good chance to recover.

There were seven birdies today:  Lif(2), Darden(2), Donald(1), Dave(1), and Chris(1).   No discs lost and no discs found.
