Zilker Park - Memorial Day

We had a small group for a wet Memorial Day round at Zilker Park.  Today's players were:  Lif, Keith and Heady.  We had intermittent showers for the front nine, at times it came down pretty hard.  The sun came out on the back nine and it turned out to be a nice day.  I came very close to an ace on the short #9.  My drive went straight to the basket and blew through the chains.  So close.   Only two birdies made today:  Lif(1) and Heady(1).

Austin Ridge Bible Church -

Heavy rains again forced us to choose a course with good drainage, today that choice was the Austin Ridge Bible Church.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Lif, Chris, Keith and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 80's and so was the humidity.  Skies were mostly cloudy and hardly any breeze.  Course conditions were fair, it could use some mowing in places.  Thanks again to Steve for bringing the Macho Tacos and thanks to Chris for buying them!

I ended up with a better score than I thought I did.  My drives were decent and I don't recall missing any putts.  A few of my approach shots were off, which led to bogies.  I had a great drive on #15, through the trees and ended up five feet from the basket.  Keith continues to improve, he made two birdies today!

Five birdies were made today:  Keith(2), Steve(1), Lif(1) and Heady(1).  No discs found but Lif lost two discs.  One in the weeds on #17 and one in the water on #18.

Zilker Park - Been a long time

It's been over a year since the group played Zilker on a Sunday, today was a good day to do it.  We started early at 8:00 to beat the crowd and the rain.   Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Dave, Chris, Keith and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 70's, with mostly cloudy skies and the threat of rain.  It was a little breezy at times.  Course conditions were good, not too muddy.   There were many other players on the course.  We finished early and decided to play the front nine again.  We got caught in a little rain but was not a factor.

I had a pretty good round.  Some nice drives and good approach shots.  A couple of mistakes and a lack of concentration cost me a few strokes.   I got lucky and made a couple of 30 foot putts to save par.  Keith continues to improve, he even made a birdie on the second round.

Only four birdies made today:  Steve(1), Heady(1), Lif(1) and Chris(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.  Three All-Star pars made!

Circle C - Yet Again

The plan today was to play a Saturday round at the MetCenter; however, we discovered that there was a tournament today, so we went back to our old stand-by, Circle C.  Today's players were:  Steve, Big Dave, Lif and Heady.   Nice weather again today, with temperatures in the upper 70's, mostly cloudy skies and an occasional breeze.  There were many other players on the course.  Thanks again to Steve for bringing the Macho Tacos and thanks to Lif for paying for them!

I had a pretty good round today, many of my drives were straight and long.  My approach shots were a little off, leaving me with difficult putts.  To my surprise, I made most of the difficult putts.  Even the ones I missed were dead on, but just a little high or a little low.   I had one of my best drives on #13, perfectly straight, 20 feet short of the basket, which I converted for a birdie.  I did make some really stupid mistakes on #15 and #16 which cost me three strokes.   Steve had a great drive on #8, nearly skipped it in, made the birdie.

Only three birdies were made today:  Heady(2) and Steve(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Enjoying some Macho Tacos!
