East Metro Park - Manor

We traveled east today to play the ever challenging East Metro Park in Manor.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Lif, Chris and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 50's when we started, not a cloud in the sky and a slight breeze was blowing.  Course conditions were good, there was some water in the creeks.  A mini tournament was being played but it did not really affect us.

Steve was on fire today with five birdies, four in a row!  Great drives, nice approach shots and clutch putting.  Steve even made a birdie on the long par 5 #8, with a 30 foot putt.  He had it going on!   The rest of us were in a different league.  I had some good throws but had some trouble with accuracy.  On this course, if you are not accurate then you are in rough.  And the rough ain't a good place to be.  I came out of the rough bleeding a couple of times today.

A total of six birdies were made:  Steve(5) and Lif(1).

MetCenter - Saturday Round

Because the weather is forecast to be lousy on Sunday, we decided to play a Saturday round at the MetCenter. Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Lif, Darden, Chris and Heady.  Temperatures were in the 50's when we started, cloudy skies and only a slight breeze.  Course conditions were a little squishy in places, but that's normal for The Met.  There were lots of other players on the course but we never had to wait nor have anyone wait for us.

I seemed to have regressed this week.  I started out with with strong drives but later in round I was not getting any distance.  I lost my touch on my approach shots.  I had a putting adventure on #7.  Steve was throwing very long, straight drives consistently all day.  Some of the best drives I've ever seen him throw.  He damn near made an eagle on #18.  His second throw, from about 210 feet out hit the chains!

Eight birdies were made today:  Steve(3), Darden(2), Keith(1), Lif(1) and Chris(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

North Town - Another Day in the Sun

We played North Town this morning in beautiful Pflugerville.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Lif and Heady.  Keith brought his therapy dog, Wilbur, who was a great comfort.  Course conditions were good, much of the vegetation has died down from the recent freezes.  Some of the fairways were a little damp in places.  There were many other players on the course.

I played a little better than my average for this course.  I was getting some really long drives today, I don't know what got into me.  I started with two long throws on long #1 and had a outside chance at par.  On #16 I drove about 25 feet past the basket, when I want to hit a tree I never do.  I had a couple of disaster holes and choked on a few putts.  I did make a few putts that were well outside my comfort zone.

A total of six birdies were made today:  Steve(2), Keith(2), Lif(1) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and one disc found.  Steve was able to retrieve a Champion Leopard from the pond on #12.
