Westside Park - Marble Falls - Day after Thanksgiving
I am not able to play with the group this weekend but I did have Friday off of work. I took advantage of the holiday and the good weather to play Westside Park in Marble Falls. I have a very relaxing, stress free round and managed to get off some good technical shots. I did manage to throw into the creek about five times. I messed up on the last two holes, otherwise I would have been even for the round.
Recent rains really eroded the banks |
I had a bad approach on #2, ended up in the creek. |
I had trouble flicking into the wind. Ended up wet on #3 also |
#4 basket hidden behind the tree |
Signature hole #6 |
I think they built up this putting area since last time. All of this flooded |
This is a very technical hole |
Narrow tunnel for #9 |
Short hole, easy birdie |
I got wet again on #16 |

East Metro - Saturday Round
Since the weather is supposed to be terrible on Sunday we decided to play a Saturday round at the East Metro Park in Manor. Today's players were: Steve, Bob, Dave, Lif and Heady. The weather was very nice, temperatures in the 70's, sunny skies and no wind. Course conditions were a little soggy in places and still a bit overgrown. This course has a very unforgiving and punishing rough. Everything can scratch, poke or bite you. There were several other groups on the course today.
I think we all played pretty much below our averages today. I only had one par on the front nine but I played alright on the back nine. Bob had the shot of the day with a 60 foot putt to save bogey on #12. Dave and Lif both made par on the difficult #5.
Only three birdies were made today: Heady(2) and Bob(1). One disc lost by Lif on #1, one disc found by Steve on #1.

Circle C - Cool Day
We chose Circle C as the course to play this week. Today's players were: Steve, Keith, Bob, Dave and Heady. Temperatures were in the upper 40's to low 50's, mostly cloudy skies and no wind at all. Course conditions were good, a little muddy in some places and it looked like fresh mulch was put down on many of the fairways. The creek was flowing. There were several other groups on the course enjoying a round.
I played a little below average today, I blame the cold, layers of clothing but mostly because I was sore from working the Paella Fest yesterday. I did manage the shot of the day with a 65 foot birdie on #15 with Nick Mata. Keith had a good day putting making several pressure putts. Steve had one the best drives on #18, past the big tree and it took the left curve of the fairway for a about 50 feet.
Nine birdies were made today: Steve(2), Dave(2), Keith(2), Heady(2) and Bob(1). No discs found and no discs lost. Thanks to Bob for taking all the video.
