Wilco - Another early start

We have been starting at 8:00 to beat the heat the past couple of weeks.  This week we headed up north to play the Williamson County DGC.  Today's players were:  Steve, Keith, Lif and Heady.  Another warm, muggy day with very little wind.  Several other groups were on the course also trying to beat the heat.

We all started off a little slow, the trees came into play far too often.  I played about average, I only missed one putt that I really should have made.  Steve started off very slow (no macho taco this morning).  He did not make a par until the 6th hole, but he picked it up on the back nine shooting even par!

Only two birdies made today:  Keith and Lif.  No discs lost but two discs found by Steve (of course).

Circle C - Early Start - Father's Day

We had an early 8:00 AM start at Circle C.  We started early to beat the heat and to give Keith time to get to San Antonio.  Today's players were Steve, Keith, Dave, Lif and Heady.  Skies were partly cloudy, temperatures were in the mid 70's and it was very muggy.  Despite the early start there were quite a few other groups on the course.

I had some of the best drives I thrown in a long time.  My drive on #3 had a chance for and ace and my drive on #17 was 12 feet from the basket.  I did not make birdie on either chance.  Overall I played well but without a few stupid mistakes I could have shaved off another 5 strokes.  Congratulations to Keith for breaking par!

There were only four birdies today:  Keith(3) and Steve(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Austin Ridge Bible Church

We played the Austin Ridge Bible Church today to accommodate me.  I am in the process of moving and have a lot of time constraints.    Today's group consisted of:  Steve, Brian, Lif, Keith and myself.  Temperatures were a little warm in the mid to upper 80's, a hot sun and very little wind.  It was the humidity that was really bad.  Even I was sweating.  Course conditions were a little overgrown but it was mostly dry.  We had one group in front of us that slowed us down.

I had some decent throws today but I just hit too many trees.  I think I only missed one putt.  My approach shots were very good.  I made par on the long #14 for the first time in a long time.  But I had a breakdown on #11 which is usually and easy par for me.  Steve had a strong finish with birdies on the three of the last four holes.

A total of six birdies today:  Steve(4), Brian(1) and Heady(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Brushy Creek (aka Cat Hollow)

We tried to find the driest course in the Austin area to play this week and decided that Brushy Creek would be in the best condition.  It was only a little bit muddy because this course has very good drainage.  The entire course is in a drainage area.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Keith, Lif, Brian and myself.  Temperatures were in the mid 70's, abundant sunshine and a steady north wind.  Lots of other players on the course today enjoying the beautiful weather.

This is a mostly short, technical course which are my favorite kind to play.  However, I always have trouble with this course.  Many of the fairways are very narrow and my drives always ended up behind a tree.  The entire group had problems with the wind.  If you did not keep your disc low it would sail away.

A total of five birdies were made:  Steve(2), Heady(1), Keith(1) and Brian(1).  No discs lost and no discs found.

Lif starts us off!
