East Metro Park, Manor - After Poker

Keith hosted a Saturday night poker game at his house in Manor.  We stayed up until about 4:30 playing cards, then crashed out for a few hours and met Dave at the park at 9:00.  We were all moving a little slow.  Temperatures were in the 70's, skies were mostly cloudy and not much of a breeze.

Course conditions were tough.  I've forgotten how bad the rough can be at Manor.  The past few times we've played there has been during the winter when all the undergrowth has died off.  Not only is the brush very thick, everything has thorns on it.  The only plant without thorns was the poison ivy.

I played alright considering the lack of sleep and residual tequila and beer in my system.  I had to concentrate on every throw to avoid going into the rough.  I did manage to snap off a few good drives and approach shots.  But I missed a couple of putts that I usually make.

Four birdies were made today:  Steve(3) and Keith(1).  Two discs lost in the rough, Lif on #2 and Steve on #10.  One disc found by Dave on #10 while searching for Steve's drive.

Circle C - Saturday to avoid the rains. I did not play

Heavy rain was in the forecast for Sunday so a small group played on Saturday at the Circle C.  The players were Steve, Dave and Lif.   Looks like five birdies were made:  Steve(3) and Dave(2).  Steve made his birdies on the last three holes. Very impressive.

MetCenter

It was a nice day to play the MetCenter down by the airport.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Lif, Keith, Brian and Heady.  Temperatures were in the low 70's, overcast skies and a steady wind was blowing.  The clouds broke up a little on the back nine and the sun peeked through.  Course conditions were good, not very muddy.  There were several other groups on the course today.

I started off a little slow and then finished the front nine only five over.  I had my problems on the back nine with some trees and missed putts.  Brian was making his longs putts today.  He had three or four from at least 40 feet out!  Very impressive considering the amount of wind we had.

A total of seven birdies were made today:  Steve(2), Brian(2), Lif(1), Dave(1) and Heady(1).  No discs found and no discs lost, but we came close a couple of times.

Zilker Park - Nice Day, Let's Play Two

It was a nice day at Zilker Park so we decided to play two.  Today's players were:  Steve, Dave, Lif, Keith and Heady.  Weather conditions were ideal.  A little chilly when we started but it quickly warmed up.  Clear skies and no wind to speak of.  Course conditions were good.  The grass was kind of high but I think they were delaying mowing it until after bluebonnet season.  I hate the $5 parking fee

Steve had a great day, scoring below par on both rounds and did not record a bogey.   His drives were very long and straight.  Often past the basket.

A total of eight birdies on the first round:  Steve(4), Keith(2) and Dave(2).  Seven birdies were recorded on the second round:  Steve(3), Rob(2), Dave(1) and Keith(1).   No discs found, no discs lost.
