Austin Ridge Bible Church - Brutal Day

This weekend we had a rough day at the Austin Ridge Bible Church.  We had a large group with nine players:  Micah, Lif, Big Dave, Keith, Bob, Steve, David, Brian and myself.  We started at 8:30 to beat the heat but the heat won anyway.  It was a long day and we did not finish until about 1:30.  Temperatures were in the upper 90's by the time we finished.  The heat and slow play really affected our game and our scores reflect that.  No one played exceptionally well; congrats to Micah for the low score for the day.

Steve brought Macho Tacos for breakfast and we definitely needed them for strength.  The course has gotten overgrown during the summer and we spent quite a bit of time searching for errant discs.  Several groups that we let play through slowed us down.  David blew out his shoe halfway through the round and that hindered his drives.

Although we did play poorly, we did finish strong, the only birdies made were on the last three holes:  Rob(1), Steve(1) and Lif(1).  My birdie was the shot of the day,  I threw it in from about 170 feet on #16.  Two discs lost David and Micah on #18 and two discs found on #18 by Steve.  Bob took most of these photos, good job Bob!

Wells Branch Disc Golf Course

This week we went up north and played the Wells Branch Disc Golf Course.  This is a short neighborhood course tucked in between a creek and an apartment complex.  We started a half hour early to beat the crowds and the heat.  There is a doubles tournament played there every Sunday and the course can get crowded.  Temperatures were in the upper 80's when we started, partly cloudy skies and a slight breeze.  Today's players were:  Steve, Lif, Keith, Dave, Brian and Rob.  We missed Bob again today!

This course has some very short holes, the group behind us scored and ace on #13.  The hazards on the course are the little creek that comes into play on most of the holes, there is also abundant poison ivy to contend with.  It looks like they changed the pin location on several holes since the last time we played here. My drives were all right for the most part today, my putting is what brought me down.  I must have missed five birdie putts and a lack of concentration gave me the only double bogie of the day on #3.

A total of 14 birdies were made today:  Steve(4), Lif(4), Keith(2), Dave(2), Brian(1) and Rob(1).  No discs lost, no discs found.
