Today at lunch I played the first seven holes at the Church. My drive on #1 went a little too high and faded left and landed by the #3 basket. I had a problem getting through the trees and wound up with a bogey. My drives on #2 through #5 were all straight down the fairway. My fairway shots were all long, well placed and avoided the trees. My approach shots for every hole were right on the basket and I made all my putts. On #6 my flick drive curved around the trees and ended up six feet from the basket for an easy birdie. On #7 I had to throw a mulligan after hitting a tree. My mulligan went straight down the fairway, flew next to the basket and ended up about 15 feet past the basket. I made the putt for birdie.
I wish I would have played this well last Sunday, it would have lowered my score by five strokes.
#1 - bogey
#2 - par
#3 - par
#4 - par
#5 - par
#6 - birdie
#7 - birdie
I created this blog to keep track of my disc golf games. I will also add topics relevant to the sport of disc golf.

Austin Ridge Bible Church
A group of eight played the Austin Ridge Bible Church today: Bob, Keith, Lif, Heady, Steve, Mark, Micah and Dave. Mark and Micah had never played the Church before but they had heard stories about it. It is a very difficult course, extremely rugged terrain, heavily wooded and requires precision shots. There are also water hazards, especially on number 18. The temperatures today were in the upper 80's, a slight north wind and partly cloudy skies.
Two discs lost today, Keith and Lif, both in the pond on #18. Two discs found today, Micah and Lif. Considerably fewer birdies were made today than last week: Steve(2), Heady(1), Bob(1). It should be noted that Bob also made a birdie on Bonus Hole B which is not on the scorecard. My birdie on #18 was from a 70 foot flick. Steve had a great drive on #12 of about 400 feet.

Wells Branch Disc Golf Course
Today we made a road trip north and played the new and improved Wells Branch Disc Golf Course. A nice neighborhood course, we started at 8:30 to avoid the tournament that started at 10:00. The last time we played this course was February 3 and they have done some improvements to the course. The course is along side a small creek with lots of large pecan trees offering shade. The creek had water in some places and a few discs got wet. Watch out for those snapping turtles! Very nice tee pads and benches and a very clean course. I did not see any trash at all. You did have to be careful to avoid the poison ivy that grew almost everywhere. Most of the holes are short par threes, a couple of par fours.
We all played very well today. We could not ask for better weather, temperatures when we started were in the upper 70's, a slight north wind and plenty of sunshine. A small group played today: Bob, Lif, Dave, Steve and myself. Keith is in New York City this weekend. The weather was so nice that Steve, Bob and I played most of a second round.
Lots of birdies today: Heady(6), Steve(5), Dave(5), Bob(4) and Lif(3). One disc found(Steve and Bob), one disc found and returned(Steve), no discs lost.
