Austin Ridge Bible Church - Memorial Day

Steve and I played a round on Memorial day at the church.  No photos today.  I came close to an ace on the sixth hole.  I threw a flick with the LF disc that I found yesterday, it curved around the trees and flew right next to basket.  Putted for an easy birdie.  I made two birdies and I think Steve made three.  Steve almost lost a disc on Bonus Hole A.  We searched for about twenty minutes before Steve spotted it in a tree.

East Metro Park

Today the Churchill High School group, Steve, Bob, Lif, Keith and Rob, played the East Metro Park in Manor.  I always love playing this course because of its difficulty and remoteness.  You really feel like you are in the deep woods when you play this course.  The most difficult thing about this course is the rough.  We spent about 45 minutes looking for lost discs on the first eight holes.  We had to battle huge cactus patches, mesquite, poison ivy, beggars lice, spear grass, stinging nettles, other thorny bushes, bees, ants, mosquitoes, scorpions, wasps and mud.

We had a fair amount of rain this weekend so the course was a little muddy.  There was water in some parts of the creek, I almost lost my disc in the dirty water again.  Because of the recent rains the temperatures were only in the upper 80's.  Although it was rather humid and sticky, a slight breeze developed later in the morning and refreshed us.

No discs lost (but we came close a few times), two discs found (me and Steve).  A total of five birdies today, Keith (3) and Steve (2).

Cat Hollow Disc Golf Course

Today we took a little road trip north to play the Cat Hollow Disc Golf Course (aka Brushy Creek).  Weather was nice, a little warm and a little windy.  The wind made for some tough shots.  Only two birdies made today, Steve and Keith.  Steve damn near had another ace today, on the ninth hole he skipped it off the top of the basket.  I had a couple of good flicks and almost made one from about 100 feet.

We had a full group today, Lif, Steve, Keith, Bob, Mark, Micah and myself.  The course got a little busy towards the end of the round.  Smaller groups catching us with us. No discs lost, one disc found by Steve (again).  Overall a pretty nice course. The holes seemed a lot shorter compared to Roy G. yesterday.
